was held on August 25–29, 1986 in Prague, Czech Republic. It was organized by the Mathematical Institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and the Faculty of Nuclear Science and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Purkyně University, the Institute of Mathematics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Comenius University and the Association of Czechoslovak Mathematicians and Physicists. Support for the Symposium was also provided by the Pedagogical Faculty of the Purkyně University and the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Šafárik University.
The Symposium was attended by 220 mathematicians from 29 countries. The scientific programme was prepared by the Program Committee cinsisting of Z. Frolík (chairman), M. Hušek (vice-chairman), B. Balcar and J. Pelant. The programme consisted of 35 lectures invited by the organizing committee and 132 contributed papers presented in three or four parallel sections.
62 papers (invited or contributed) together with 74 abstracts were published in General Topology and its Relations to Modern Analysis and Algebra VI, Proceedings of the Sixth Prague Topological Symposium 1986 (Heldermann Verlag 1988).
